Sunday Worship: 11am & 6pm

at Bethesda Evangelical Church

About Us

Bethesda’ – means ‘house of mercy’ and was the name of a pool in Jerusalem. It’s our hope and prayer that men, women, boys, and girls will find God’s mercy through Jesus by joining us as we worship him week by week.

Evangelical’ – comes from a Greek word in the New Testament which means ‘to announce the good news.’  This is the news that the Lord Jesus Christ, the righteous Son of God, died for our sins and rose again, eternally triumphant over all his enemies, so that there is now no condemnation for those who believe in him, but only everlasting joy.

“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”  Romans 8:1

Church’ – doesn’t actually refer to the building!  In the New Testament, the word ‘church’ refers to a community of people united by their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their one and only saviour.

We baptise believers by immersion on their personal confession of faith, and we commemorate the Lord’s death in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper (Communion) every Sunday.

  • Proclaiming God’s good news of forgiveness and new life through the Lord Jesus.
  • Promoting faithful Christian living.
  • Preserving pure Christian truth through the teaching of the Bible.
  • Providing for God’s people.
